Brief Description of the Duty

To plan and organize meetings, promotional activities, and events to be held within the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, thereby contributing to the processes of generating scientific output and societal impact. Keeping all pages, announcements, and event information on the faculty’s website up to date is also among the responsibilities of this commission.

Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
  • To prepare and develop projects related to the faculty’s promotional activities, determine strategies, organize, monitor, and finalize them.

  • To carry out activities aimed at increasing the faculty’s recognition nationally and internationally.

  • To develop strategies for effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

  • To organize faculty promotion days.

  • To ensure the preparation and printing of necessary documents, booklets, and brochures for promotion days.

  • To organize the faculty’s scientific and social events such as seminars, conferences, and meetings, and to act as a coordinator in these events.

  • To organize career days that bring our students together with employers.

  • To plan social activities such as trips, celebrations, and similar events.

  • To provide guidance and support to disadvantaged students studying at our faculty and other disadvantaged individuals interested in the field of computer science.

He/She is accountable to the Dean’s Office for the fulfillment of the duties stated above.

Brief Description of the Duty

To conduct, manage, and organize the practical training activities of the faculty’s departments.

Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
  • To inform students about relevant topics during the practical training period and make necessary announcements.

  • To determine the suitability of workplaces where practical training will be conducted for timely applications.

  • To ensure the implementation of practical training in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.

  • To define the general content of the practical training file in which students will record their work activities during the practical training.

  • To establish the procedures and principles for conducting practical training in line with the department’s requirements and submit them for the approval of the department board.

  • To carry out the assessment and evaluation of the learning outcomes obtained at the end of the practical training, or, when necessary, to form sub-commissions including the responsible faculty member to oversee this process.

  • To resolve any issues that may arise during practical training and report unresolved matters to the faculty’s practical training coordinator and the Dean’s Office.

Brief Description of the Duty

To ensure that, during the fall, spring, and summer school terms, the definitions of common, compulsory, and elective courses determined to be opened according to the faculty’s needs, along with their responsible instructors, are entered into the Student Information System (OBS), and that the faculty course schedule is prepared in the most suitable way possible in accordance with the faculty’s policy decisions and physical conditions.


Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
  • The Course Operations Commission and its members are established by the Dean and carry out their activities following the approval of the Executive Board.

  • It determines in which term elective courses that can be offered independently of the semester should be taught.

  • It prepares the weekly course schedules at the beginning of each term.

  • For courses with predetermined terms, it assigns the day and time of the course based on the availability of the instructors teaching the course in the relevant term.

  • If deemed necessary during the term, it makes changes to the course days and times and ensures that students and instructors are informed of these changes.

  • Commission members continue their duties until a new appointment is made.

  • In the event that a commission member leaves for any reason, a new member is appointed by the Dean’s Office.

Brief Description of the Duty

The purpose of this commission is to lay the groundwork for initiating the faculty’s and departments’ national and international relations within the framework of bilateral agreements, programs, and projects, and to initiate, manage, and develop these relations. Within the framework of the university’s internationalization goals, it aims to provide faculty students and staff with opportunities to gain international experience in their educational and research activities, assist incoming students and scholars from foreign universities in integrating with the university, and ensure that the university benefits from international programs and projects, thereby contributing to the development of both the university and the city of Karabük.

It manages faculty and student exchange programs such as Mevlana, Farabi, and Erasmus, and contacts foreign universities to establish bilateral agreements in line with the needs of the faculty and relevant departments.


Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
  • To coordinate the faculty’s national and international promotion and activities related to relations (Mevlana, Erasmus, and Farabi).

  • To determine the faculty’s position in national and international relations processes, identify new developments, and set directions.

  • To ensure the operation of student and faculty staff exchange processes under Erasmus / Mevlana / Farabi in accordance with regulations and to carry out bilateral agreement work.

  • To facilitate coordination and collaboration among the relevant commissions of other departments within the faculty.

  • To perform tasks assigned by the Dean’s Office related to national and international relations and to be responsible for exchanges and improvements.

  • To monitor the procedures of students participating in exchange programs and manage processes related to incoming students.

  • To organize information sessions separately for outgoing and incoming students.

  • To promote exchange programs within the faculty and prepare promotional materials.

  • To determine whether courses planned to be taken from the partner university through the exchange program are compatible with the department’s curriculum courses, working closely with the Department Curriculum Commission and the Exemption Procedures Commission.

  • To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.

  • To report the decisions made by the commission to the Dean’s Office.

Brief Description of the Duty

To establish an internal and external quality assurance system within our faculty, determine quality indicators, and carry out related activities in accordance with the procedures and principles set by the Quality Commission. During the external evaluation process, to make the necessary preparations for their units, provide all kinds of support related to their units to the Higher Education Quality Board and external evaluation institutions during the audit process, and conduct activities in collaboration with the departmental quality commissions.


Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities

  1. To carry out activities in line with the roadmap determined by the Karabük University Quality Commission.

  2. To determine the quality objectives of the unit.

  3. To conduct all activities necessary for the academic and administrative units to successfully evaluate services, improve quality, and approve quality levels in accordance with the unit’s and institution’s strategic plans and objectives, and to provide full support to the Quality Commission in this context.

  4. To conduct internal evaluation studies in academic and administrative units and prepare unit internal evaluation reports and performance indicators.

  5. To identify areas for improvement and aspects open to development based on the unit internal evaluation reports and present them to the Quality Commission.

  6. To make the necessary preparations for academic and administrative units during Karabük University’s external evaluation processes and provide all kinds of support to external evaluation institutions, organizations, or boards.

  7. To announce the decisions of the Quality Commission within the relevant unit, monitor their implementation, and track the results of these practices.

  8. To support the reports prepared by the Quality Commission for the Higher Education Quality Board, primarily the “Karabük University Internal Evaluation Report.”

  9. To encourage programs to enter accreditation processes and contribute to these activities.

  10. To coordinate quality improvement activities related to their academic programs and administrative services in line with the guidance of departmental/program/sub-department quality sub-working groups and teams in academic units and to monitor their performance.

The Unit Quality Commission meets at least four (4) times each academic year, at the beginning and end of each academic term. Additionally, meetings can be called by the Chair or upon a written request by the simple majority of commission members. The meeting agenda, date, and location are determined by the Chair and communicated to the members. Decisions taken at the meeting are sent to the Quality Coordination Office within 10 days following the meeting date.

Brief Description of the Duty

The duty of the Accreditation Commission is to inform the Department Curriculum Commission of the requirements to ensure that the undergraduate programs of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences are compatible with MÜDEK criteria and to provide opinions on the compliance of the resulting curriculum. It also guides the structuring and sustainable development of the Bologna process within the faculty.

Duties, Authorities, and Responsibilities
  • To monitor and coordinate the faculty’s MÜDEK activities.

  • To review and provide opinions on relevant items on the agendas of departmental Academic Boards in terms of curriculum compliance.

  • To follow the ongoing educational activities in the departments from a curriculum perspective.

  • To inform the Department Curriculum Commissions of the requirements needed to align departmental curricula with MÜDEK criteria.

  • To assess the proximity of the curriculum to international standards to ensure it remains up to date.

  • To communicate with external stakeholders and evaluate and provide opinions on new courses and activities to be included in the curriculum.

  • To guide the work areas of other commissions in line with MÜDEK expectations.

  • To coordinate the preparation of documents and materials to be submitted to the MÜDEK Evaluation Team.

  • To carry out accreditation procedures.

  • To coordinate the preparation of unit self-assessment reports within the scope of MÜDEK.

  • To organize all necessary actions within the department under MÜDEK and issue required notifications.

  • To organize MÜDEK departmental visits.

  • To carry out necessary activities and make decisions to address deficiencies or weaknesses indicated in MÜDEK Evaluation Team reports.

  • To establish sub-commissions and assign tasks when necessary, and provide information in Faculty Board meetings regarding relevant matters.

  • To ensure that Bologna process activities are fully implemented on behalf of the faculty, request and follow up on necessary actions at the department and relevant unit levels.

  • To develop principles and recommendations for compliance with the Bologna process, provide accurate inputs in line with quality standards to achieve process objectives, and identify, prepare, and have prepared the necessary documents and guides.

  • To provide information on the Bologna process when required and, if necessary, organize training seminars with the participation of authorized personnel from the University IT Department and Bologna Coordination Office.

  • To ensure, in cooperation with the Student Affairs Directorate, University IT Department, and University Bologna Coordination Office, that the Bologna data entry for all faculty academic units is completed and verified.

  • To create facilitating sub-groups from relevant departments when necessary to ensure effective implementation of the above duties at the faculty level, and to assign faculty academic and administrative staff to Bologna process activities.

  • To plan duties in accordance with the established work schedule and determine priorities.

  • To be accountable to the Dean’s Office for the fulfillment of the duties mentioned above.

Komisyonun çalışma yöntemi; Ar-Ge, insan kaynakları, araştırma altyapıları, girişimcilik, stratejik alanlar, sanayinin katılımcılığı gibi dinamikler ve eğitim, istihdam, sanayi, ihracat ve bunun gibi diğer önemli politikalar göz önünde bulundurularak üniversite sanayi işbirliği politikasının oluşturulması, bu politika çerçevesinde sanayi ve üniversitelerin yönlendirilmesi, gerekli mekanizmalarla sürecin izlenmesi ve koordinasyonu sağlamak olarak belirlenmiştir.

Brief Description of the Duty

To maintain the inventory of the faculty’s laboratories and infrastructure, prepare manuals for laboratory equipment and position them for visibility beside the devices, keep records of students working in the laboratories, and carry out forward-looking renewal and improvement activities for the laboratories. To report shortages of laboratory equipment and consumables to the department chair, identify and notify equipment requiring maintenance and repair, and organize specialized cleaning tasks for the laboratories. The responsibilities of the Laboratory Commission also include overseeing the practical training areas in the laboratories used within the faculty, planning needs and communicating them to relevant units, and recording and resolving problems or disruptions that may arise during usage.

  • To ensure that the faculty’s infrastructure, laboratories, and classrooms develop in accordance with the targeted accreditation criteria.

  • To monitor the accessibility measures for individuals with disabilities, identify any deficiencies, and take necessary actions to address them.

  • To prepare and update the inventory list of existing hardware and software in the faculty laboratories.

  • To check the calibration status of existing laboratory equipment and ensure calibration is performed when necessary.

  • To label existing laboratory devices with their names and usage instructions.

  • To coordinate technicians, research assistants, and students assigned to the laboratories to ensure orderly and efficient use.

  • To prepare and place necessary warning and safety signs to prevent accidents and occupational hazards.

  • To monitor meetings and activities regarding safety and accident prevention and ensure faculty staff and students are informed.

  • To coordinate with relevant faculty members regarding new equipment and devices to be acquired for the laboratories and prepare proposals.

  • To prepare a presentation summarizing the commission’s activities at the end of each term and present it to the Faculty Academic Board.
