About Department

The Department of Computer Engineering at Karabük University was established in 2007. Our department, which began education in 2008, offers undergraduate, graduate, master's (in English), and doctoral programs. Our faculty building houses laboratories such as the Digital Electronics Laboratory, Microprocessor Laboratory, PC laboratories, and Network Laboratory. Our department has three main branches: Computer Hardware, Computer Science, and Computer Software.

The department's curriculum aims to cultivate the most successful undergraduate computer engineers, while also contributing to the global field of computer engineering through research. Students are trained as computer engineers with a solid theoretical foundation, who are creative, independent thinkers, learners, and committed to continuous self-improvement and teamwork.

Karabük University achieved great success by ranking among the top 1,000 universities in the world in the 2020 rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world's most respected university ranking organizations. According to the rankings, Karabük University has achieved a remarkable success, ranking among the "Top 1,000 Universities in the World." While 11 universities from Turkey made it into the top 1,000, Karabük University ranked 10th, making it the only university outside Ankara and Istanbul to make the list.

 



In the Times Higher Education (THE) 2025 World University Rankings by Subject, the university ranked 4th in Türkiye in the field of Computer Science. Furthermore, due to its proximity to Ankara, it has faculty members who collaborate with institutions such as TÜBİTAK and ASELSAN, particularly those working on defense industry projects.
